Name: Hestia Janis Jones
Age: 28
Former House/Bloodline: Gryffindor / Muggle-born
Date/place of birth: 9 October 1972 / London
Physical features: If those wizards constantly around her knew anything about the muggle world, they would classify Hestia Jones as bohemian. Standing at a slightly tall 5'9", the witch's body is trim and long. Some might even venture to call her lanky, as she's almost all legs and arms. Despite what some might call her natural predisposition to calamity, Hestia moves with ease. She attributes her grace with countless music lessons for various instruments that provided her with excellent body control and awareness. Once Tonks drunkenly told her to show off the amazing control that Hestia boasts, and Hestia attempted to perform different movements with each hand and each foot. She failed miserably and fell over, but if asked the jovial witch will blame the intense amounts of alcohol consumed.
She enjoys having a rather unfeminine body as it allows her to wear her father's old school clothes. As a matter of fact, any person around her would be very hard pressed to catch Hestia at a time at which she is not wearing old muggle clothes. She's repeatedly told her fellow Order members time and again that they are called "vintage" and are quite in fashion in the muggle world, but nobody seems to get around to calling them anything but old. Her favorite articles of clothing are a thin and faded grey T-shirt of the muggle rock band Heart and a pair of her father's gold-rimmed, mirrored aviator sunglasses from his time at Cambridge.
The most obvious physical quirks of Hestia's appearance are her tattoos. She has many, many, many of them. She started getting tattoos in her sixth year, much to Professor McGonagall's chagrin. Whenever she'd go home to muggle London, she'd come back with a new piece of ink. Hestia has never been shy with her tattoos. She has countless highly visible tattoos all over her body. Her personal favorites are the stars on the left side of her forehead and down to her temple. They're a memorial in honor of her fallen comrade and best friend, Tonks. Hestia always liked to think her friend looked at the world with stars in her eyes.
Hobbies: Hunting down stragglers. Trying to keep in line at work. Boss-employee relations haven't been the most pristine since the war ended. Consuming far too much alcohol for any one person. Chain-smoking. Playing her guitar. Pursuing woman after woman to keep her mind off nightmares. She hardly laughs anymore. Well, she hardly ever really laughs. Jokes don't seem as important as they used to. One of Hestia's hobbies has always been tattooing. Let's just say that since the war ended, she has yet to finish the number of memorial tattoos she needs.

Children - have any? want any? Not even entering her mind at this point in her life.
History: Hestia Janis Jones was born to young, muggle parents in London on October 9, 1973. Her father, Darrin, was a sound technician at London's Astoria Theatre, and her mother, Georgie, was a make-up artist who traveled with several London bands throughout the 60s and early 70s. The birth of their daughter brought the Jones their perceived chance to pass on the message of love ( very prevelant throughout the muggle world at the time of her birth ) to the next generation.
As early as she could walk, Hestia was playing music -- clapping tamborines, banging bongos, playing on a childrens' keyboard. Anything. Everything. The older she got, the better she became and the more she preferred to play the guitar. By the 1980s, her parents' generation had soured into something very not like they had been, but Hestia still clung to the messages of love and acceptance her parents had taught her. At age 10, the young girl declared she wanted to be a professional musician, thinking it was the only thing at which she excelled. When the letter from Hogwarts arrived at her door, however, she learned she was wrong.
It took the girl a little while to adjust to life among magical people and beings, but once she was there, Hestia threw herself into the culture head first. She loved to use magic for the purpose of helping people, sometimes by mending wounds but mostly by making them laugh. She was a prankster who knew her limits, so to speak. She joined the school choir early on in her academic career and often played her guitar during late night parties in the Gryffindor common room. Mostly her fellow students would show their appreciation by giving her candy, since they didn't really have loads of galleons to spare. As a result, Hestia developed quite a sweet tooth.
School was a whirlwind for Hestia. When she wasn't partying, she was playing Quidditch. And when she wasn't doing either of those things she doing her best to avoid getting in trouble for sometimes ( most times, really ) lackadaisical attitude. School work came fairly easily to her, so Hestia never really wanted to study. She didn't mind getting average grades in anything so long as it didn't prevent her from getting where she wanted to be. Teachers often blamed her flirtatious nature for the trouble she constantly stirred. Hestia blamed it on the fact that some of the faculty lived with brooms permanently shoved where the sun don't shine.
As soon as she graduated, she enlisted in Auror training, and it wasn't much later that she was recruited into the Order. Hestia seemed to run hot-and-cold. She knew when to be a hooligan and when to be an Auror. If she wasn't on a mission, she was doing her best to lighten the somber mood that constantly surrounded them in the build up to Voldemort's resurrection. She played her guitar, told jokes and generally made a fool out of herself. When it was time to work, however, she was quick, efficient and almost always silent.
The war hit her particularly hard. For most of the initial phases, she had been away with Harry Potter's relatives, far from the fighting. By the time she got back, so many had already fallen. She couldn't help but blame herself a little. After all, who's to say at least one of them couldn't have survived if she'd been an extra body there to fight?
Since then, she's continued her work as an Auror. Though Voldemort was dead, there was still much work to be done. Not all of his cohorts had fallen, and it took some time to gather most of them underfoot again. Hestia threw herself into her work to forget about what happened. It never really worked, but she could fool herself into thinking just about anything.
